“Stupid farmer,” I heard one of my boys’ friends yell as we traveled down our road behind a hard working farmer in his big John Deere, pulling a planter which was just used or about to be used to grow the same type of cereal this little boy may have eaten for breakfast.
I have many passions in life and a high ranking one of those passions is educating others about the origin of their food (aka Agvocacy). When my friend Carrie Mess told me about the release of Cody Canada and The Departed’s (branches of a favorite band, Cross Canadian Ragweed, newest single Worth the Fight and her brilliant idea to make today #worththefight day, I immediately remembered those painful two words…”Stupid farmer.” Yes, its insulting to me personally, insulting to my family and insulting to many of my friends, neighbors and colleagues. It was also embarrassing to know I haven’t been reaching such an important group, our younger generations. It was a great reminder about why its #worththefight to continue to talk to people about their food, food choices, food production and the complete reason we all exist.
Please take a moment to head over to Carrie’s site (and follow her blog)…she is one inspirational gal!! Be sure to listen to the new song right here or watch the video. Spread the word on Twitter by using the hashtag #WorthTheFight. Then ask yourself, “What is it in my life that is #worththefight?”
