I’m so excited to have been a part of the Christmas In the Country Gift Exchange this year. I had a blast putting together my package which was sent out to the Northwest to Darleen of The Farmer’s Daughter. It included a homemade tea ring, a Christmas CD from Mr. Blake Shelton, some canned pumpkin from the Pumpkin Capitol of the World (Morton, IL), some popcorn grown and sold by a family who is in 4H with my boys and a Farm Credit Services calendar which includes photos from all over Illinois.
At the same time my ‘secret santa’ was planning a super, cool package for me! I think I was as giddy as a school girl when I received the package. The boys and I had it opened before we left the end of our lane. Each item was as cute as the next. So who was my ‘secret santa?’ Please meet Brandi from Lipstick & Tractors. I love this girl’s website! LOVE it! Here is what was included in the gift:
The first item which immediately caught everyone’s eye was the keychain! Its a little John Deere tractor and it was attached to the van key in quick fashion.
Christmas ornaments: One country themed with a star that could easily stay out all year in my kitchen because it matches so well. And, a second which is a striking resemblance to my thoughts about my becoming a vegetarian.
As a native of Iowa, home of the John Deere, Brandi also included some Johnny Pop popcorn. I have not been allowed to try the popcorn as the boys feel we need to keep it forever as a keepsake. Forever. Or, at least until the mice eat it. :/ However, I’m told its very tasty popcorn.
One of my favorite wintertime treats is homemade hot cocoa so I was excited to find that Brandi included some of her own. Its been a very tasty treat these last couple of frigid days!
The package was completed with a Shop Small reusable grocery bag and you know how I love to support small businesses!
This was such a great experience. I loved getting goodies together for Darleen and loved learning a little more about my Iowa neighbors from Brandi. Above all, its the new connections that I have with all of the ladies who participated in the Christmas In the Country Gift Exchange that I will cherish.
